St. Ann Parish
A treasure trove of natural beauty and vibrant culture, St. Ann Parish is a must-visit destination in Jamaica. One of the most iconic attractions in the parish is Dunn's River Falls. This world-famous waterfall invites visitors to climb its cascading waters or simply relax in the cool pools beneath. It's a perfect spot for both adventure and relaxation amidst stunning tropical surroundings.
A short drive away is Ocho Rios, a bustling town with a variety of attractions. Aside from Dunn's River Falls, Ocho Rios offers plenty to explore, such as the Ocho Rios Blue Hole, a hidden gem of crystal-clear water and natural rock formations. You can also visit Mystic Mountain, where you can experience thrilling activities like the bobsled ride or take a sky lift offering breathtaking views of the coast.
For those seeking a more laid-back experience, Runaway Bay is a serene coastal town known for its tranquil beaches and clear blue waters. It's a great place for snorkeling or just lounging by the sea. You can also visit Green Grotto Caves, an intriguing underground system that has both historical significance and natural beauty.
Tips
Weather (Watch for Hurricanes): Jamaica's summer is beautiful but risky due to hurricanes from June to November. Check weather updates—my flight got canceled once, leaving me stuck for three extra days. Be ready for delays and plan your trip wisely!
Driving (Beware of Curvy Mountain Roads): If you rent a car, know that mountain roads can be narrow and winding. It's tough to drive if you're not used to it, not to mention driving on the left side of the road! Hiring a driver might be a safer choice!
Go with the Flow (Our Boat Stopped in Crocodile Waters): Plans can change! Our boat broke down in crocodile-infested waters, making for a wild adventure and great stories. Embrace surprises in Jamaica and enjoy the ride—you never know what story you'll collect!
Be Open (Make friends with locals!): One of the best parts of traveling is making new friends. I met others at my hotel and we explored the local town together. Connecting with people leads to unforgettable experiences and a local's view of Jamaica.
